CLOS VOUGEOT 2009
Terroir
The Grand Cru of Clos Vougeot is situated in the heart of the Côte de Nuits.
The castle, which dates the 12th century is the property of la Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin. With a surface of 50 Ha, it is the largest appellation of the Côte de Nuits.
This wine is an assembly of two very different plots of land: one under the castle and one beside the Echezeaux. The first plot is rather clayey and ferruginous, while the highest consists of marl limestone and of silica.
Grape Variety
100% Pinot Noir
Our oenologist's comments
The color is red dark very intense. The nose already opens on toasted notes thanks to the ageing in French oak barrels for 19 months. We can also notice mixed notes of black fruits, spices such as cinnamon and gingerbread.
The attack is heady; tannins are catchy, their strengths will smooth off with the years. The structure is very well balanced; the intensity of tannins blends perfectly to the texture of the this Clos Vougeot. We predict a long future for the beautiful wine.
Sommelier's advice
The magnificent tannins will go perfectly well with a grilled piece of beef, roasted game... Époisses cheese, and chocolate desserts such as 'fondant au chocolat'
