Burgundy, by reason of its diverse geological structure, offers an impressive range of individuel wines both red and white produced from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay respectively.

Several kilometers to the North of Beaune and to the South of the Côte de Nuits, the "Côte" of Corton projects eastwards.

A perfect illustration of the unique geology of the region the hillside of Corton is the only site to produce both red and white Grands Crus, Corton and Corton-Charlemagne respectively in the whole of Burgundy.

Another special feature is the "Appellation" of Corton which is the only Grand Cru red in the whole of the Côte de Beaune.

Out of a dozen named vineyards under the appellation Corton Grand Cru, Château Corton-ANDRE includes no less than six in its Domaine, covering more than 10 hectares (25 acres) of Grands Crus. The Château de Corton-ANDRE is the only Château amongst the Grands Crus of the Côte de Beaune.
